I ran across a B-45A crash near New Albany, Indiana while researching another accident.
Here's all the information I have on it. I dont recall how remote the crashsite was/is. Also, there were more complications than just the elvator boost (and the co-pilot's escape hatch failed I believe).
North American B-45A Tornado
Serial number 47-034 (363rd RG, 85th BS) elevator boost failed during
normal cruise flight and aircraft stalled Jul 7, 1950. Aircraft spun
into ground 12 mi N of New Albany, IN.
Copilot killed. Pilot and navigator bailed out
successfully.
