Hello Ray
I live in a small village named Pardshaw near the town of Cockermouth
and in full view Of Skiddaw.I have grid references to this crash site
in two books (Both vary but one is fairly accurate and also i have read
an article (Fly Past Magazine)by a guy who was part of a team sent from
an airbase at Silloth to remove some equipment from the wreckage (If
memory serves me correctly) 2 teams being involved 1 going up from
Bassenthwaite village and the other from Keswick & apparently
finding another missing aircraft on the backside of the mountain in the
process (missing for about a month i think).
I should still have this magazine but it will take a bit of searching
through all the issues (Its a long time ago) to find it (No problem).
I hope you have had help in this matter but if you would like me to
take it further ie visit the site and photograph the area and any items
of interest if possible then let me know, no problem its an interest
both Aviation & Fellwalking. If i can find the article i will scan
it and e-mail the document to you
