Hi
Stumbled on your request by accident:-

Last witness who saw P6994 was a westlands pilot who was there in 44. ( there were a few sightings before this )
P6994 had been repainted and was no longer in the RAF standard camoflage she was sent in.
Apparently a replacement tail wheel Assy was sent by westlands.
( presumably this means that it had experienced a small accident in late 43/early 44 ? )
Westlands staff recall there was later a memo circulated by the USAAC after personnel with experience of servicing whirlwinds.
I have heard mention of the sighting in one of pensecola's scrapyards, I gather there are a few in the area.
I have so far found no photos, only people who have actually seen the aircraft , sadly at the time they had no cameras with them.
Cheers
Jerry
